Soph Liz Cano led the winners with a 2nd/19:46.6 as Schurr put four in the first nine, well ahead of second placed Alhambra, who were paced by race winner Yaneli Guajardo (19:39.4) but were hurt by a big 5:11 1-5 gap.  Montebello were narrowly third, led by senior Sabrina Padilla 3rd/20:03.9.

Despite having only one girl in the top 10, Suzette Gonzalez 10th/22:13.5, Bell Gardens just missed the top half.  Alaina Shahin (So) 7th/21:40.9 was best for 5th placed Mark Keppel, while San Gabriel was led by Carolina Loasiga 15th/22:38.0

The Schurr and Montebello boys both finished with 43 points, with the Spartans getting the nod on the better 6th man.  On a day where the varsity teams were allowed to run 10 athletes (a practice I wish every league would use) Montebello had only five men cross the line. Schurr could only do one better, but their 24th placed 6th man decided the day.

Kevin Mendoza (Jr) and Nathan Rangel (Sr) of the runners up were the race leaders at 17:04.0 & 17:04.9, but Schurr’s scoring runners placed 6, 7, 9, 10, 11 with only a 26 second gap.  The winners were paced by senior Anthony Chacon 6th/17:28.8. Fourth placed soph Hector Hernandez  at 17:24.8 lead Bell Gardens to the all important third spot in the team standings, just nosing out Alhambra, led by Donovan Zabala (Jr) 3rd/17:06.0.

San Gabriel were fifth. Their top man was Allen Au Yeung with a nice 5th/17:25.2 while junior Constantine Yap 14th/18:05 was best for Mark Keppel.
