Rosemead: Jayson, Again!

If the Rosemead Invite were a child’s jacket, the tag inside would read, “I belong to Jayson Perez“.  The South El Monte senior followed up last year’s dominance of this local meet with a blazing 14:10 effort.  Never really pressed and always under control, he scorched the 2.9 mile, mostly flat course.  On the girls side, the top performances came in the team results, as locals West Covina (89), Rosemead (156), and Arroyo (161) swept the top three team places.

Individually, Perez was joined in the overall Top 10 by fellow seniors Avedis Gertmenian (Duarte – 15:03) and Efren Alcala (Arroyo – 15:09).  We should also note the performance by Efren’s freshmen teammates – Arroyo placed five runners in the top ten of that division – led by Jesus Ocana (16:04), making them a team to watch.

Among the girls, Rosemead senior Brittnie Munoz ran a strong 17:28 to finish second overall.  She was joined in the top ten by West Covina senior Jessica Mendez (3^rd – 17:44) and senior teammate Elizabeth Lyons (10^th – 18:43)
